Faster than Voyage light is now a reality, & the unified government of the Earth, thanks to the space Command of the United Nations, put all its weight behind l' effort of colonization; d' million; men live now on livable planets in d' other solar systems. A keystone of the human efforts of colonization, the Reach planet, an interstellar shipyard which builds ships of the colony for the civilians & the warships for the armed forces of the CSNU. Ideally near to the Earth, Reach is also a center d' scientific & military activity.
